Turn the page 1 : the history

Every person has two lives. The second one begins

when you understand you only have one. (Confucius)

A very long time ago, when I was still young and at the age of about 20 to 30, I was a motorbiker and grew up in a neighborhood with about 10 moped-riders and lateron motorbikers. And we ofcourse made a lot of day- and weekendtrips. However, except for some weekends, there was not a lot of interest to use the bike for holidays, so for real trips.

First I rode a Suzuki GT750 twostroke "waterbak" (google that haha) and then a Suzuki GSX1100, one of the very first superbikes, and lateron another one.

At a given moment I decided to no longer wait for all those non-deciding persons. But to visit the newly founded Camping Moto in the French Hautes Alpes, just near Crest along the river Drome.

That camping turned out to be founded by a (ex) fellow citizen who had fallen in love with a French girl and had moved over there. Not having any job nor income he decided to create Camping Moto. For motorbikers only !

I spent my holidays there for many years in a row, and I loved every minute and every kilometer of them. With my Suzuki GSX1100 I conquered my friends the mountains, with up to 160 kmh (or even 200kmh), braking very hard into all the hairpins to then accelerate at the max again. I always won haha (and never lost ...) and nobody ever outran nor outbraked me, being it dry or wet.

And after having returned at the camping it was always a good time at the bar. Motorbikers, motorbikers and more motorbikers, and all of them were always in a great mood*.

Then, every evening, (very) long after night had fallen, This Song was played in the bar and it introduced the moment to get to bed. After I was in my little tent it always took me about half an hour to stop hearing that saxofoon ... This Song represents quite a lot of what I have experienced in my life and what person I was (and most likely still am ?).

And that is why This Song is here ! 🖱️

In the Netherlands about 40% of the people believe that they belong to the 2% of the rich people. And even more worse, they vote that way whether or not they really believe they are "rich" or are just acting or whatever. However : those were the days ... The endless fight to become even more rich has caused a very unbalanced society. If one misses (or can't avoid) just one single "issue" the (financial) cliff is near. Richness in the Netherlands is based on data, not on real-life money.

Then, at a more recent moment, The Mind came up with the reminder Warning that Life means Living, and that, for "quite some time" already, life was not living anymore to be honest. This has all to do with political, financial, mental and practical aspects of being an inhabitant of the Netherlands.

Therefore it was "the upmost highest time" for a Real Change (and chance). I made a financial calculation, sold all my belongings and since then live from my savings on a small budget. At the end of 2027 I will be pensionated, and from then on my budget will be slightly higher.

So that's how YesTrip and the OnTheRoad 4.0 🖱️ were born.

May The Force Be With You !

and the tailwinds ...

*By the way. In those days (the 1980's) Camping Moto had a very nice way (system) to keep things in control. Anyone who really messed up a situation was given three options :
1- Leave ultimately the next morning.
2- Pay 500 french francs at the postoffice to the Red Cross or to Greenpeace, and show that cheque ultimately the next morning.

Since that amount of money was then some 180 dutch guilders or 160 german marks or the equivalent of 200 beers the system worked very well haha. Then it was some 10% of most peoples monthly salary ...

Only once did I see this system in function and that was great ! A group of swedish motorbikers (group 1) left there hometown to visit Camping Moto. However, some friends (group 2) did not join them "for several reasons" and so they waved them (group 1) goodbye in that hometown. But those remainers had a secret plan : they started there motorbikes immediately after group 1 had left. They rode (raced) to Camping Moto and arrived there Before group 1 haha. It was absolutely priceless to see group 1 arrive and being welcommed by group 2.

However, one of them had brought a huge gettoblaster and so they partied near there tents until very, very late. They were each fined the next morning, rode to Crest, payed "the bill" and showed the cheques. Everybody was happy since this story was so nice.

Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band : Turn the Page :

On a long and lonesome highway, east of Omaha
You can listen to the engine, moaning out his one-note song
You can think about the woman, or the girl you knew the night before

But your thoughts will soon be wanderin', the way they always do
When you're riding sixteen hours, and there's nothin' much to do
And you don't feel much like riding, you just wish the trip was through

Say here I am, on a road again
There I am, up on a stage
Here I go, playin' star again
There I go, turn the page

Well you walk into a restaurant, strung out from the road
And you feel the eyes upon you, as you're shakin' off the cold
You pretend it doesn't bother you, but you just want to explode

Most times you can't hear 'em talk, other times you can
All the same old clichés, "is that a woman or a man?"
And you always seem outnumbered, you don't dare make a stand

Here I am, on a road again
There I am, up on a stage
Here I go, playin' star again
There I go, turn the page

Out there in the spotlight, you're a million miles away
Every ounce of energy, you try to give away
As the sweat pours out your body, like the music that you play

Later in the evening, as you lie awake in bed
With the echoes from the amplifiers, ringin' in your head
You smoke the day's last cigarette, remembering what she said

Ah, here I am, on a road again
There I am, up on a stage
Here I go, playin' star again
There I go, turn the page

Ah, here I am, on a road again
There I am, up on a stage
Here I go, playin star again
There I go, there I go
