Wildcamping inbetween Nature and very friendly people

2019-07-06

The first (former) blog about El Alamo is about the friendly people. This second blog is about the nature and scenery in and above it.

I had installed my tent at this beautiful field and had a tremendous time here.

Some afternoons beautiful clouds were having a party 💯.

Every night the most beautiful sky appeared. There is hardly any artificial light here that hinders. I could see all billion million trillion stars shining above me 👌. And I can assure you that it is just impossible to not look ! I was sitting there in total darkness and did not succeed to concentrate on reading my ebook 🖱️. That is, not even with the backlight turned on 😉.

So I prepared my Panasonic FZ1000 camera 🖱️ to make a nightshift. I removed the battery, connected it to a powerbank and set it up at full manual control. I decided for a 200 pictures timelapse session 🖱️ at a 1 minute interval starting at 01h00 hours. Then I put the combination on the (very low) tripod which I positioned directly behind my tent. And covered it with a black shirt to hide the green led. Except for the lens 😁.

That evening I processed the startrails pictures and this is the result. A lot of stars pass by are captured while the earth is turning and tonight's result was nice. However, the animation does not run very smooth because I had made a mistake. The Universe is all about Eternity so about Speed. The 1 minute interval is too long and therefor the animation runs a bit bumpy. The best interval is something like 10, 15 or 20 seconds. But that is also depending on the zoom you use. The further you zoom in the faster you need to take the pictures (why ?).

However if you create an incremental animation with the same pictures you see this. A huge amount of stars pass by are captured when the earth is turning. Although it are the same stars the incremental adding makes clear what is going on there. Does it really 😗 ???

Voyagers 1 and 2 were launched in 1977.

HowTo travel at 15 kilometers P er S econd 👀 ?!

I read an article in the Volkskrant 💯 about the Voyagers 1 and 2 spacecrafts which are still going strong after 40+ years. There Voyages are just beyond imagination. In 2013 Voyager 1 left our solar system after 36 years of flying and Voyager 2 did so in 2018. That article made me create this extra article. Enjoy, and keep on wondering !

At my campingfield was a very old oak. I always like to try to step back in time for some moments if I see such a majestique piece of nature. How old is it ? What has it all seen ? Was Napoleon maybe here, or D'Artagnan and friends ? Was this a place of worship, or of "justice" ? Maybe it also noticed the Voyagers taking off ?!

And in town this magnificent olivetree is showing all it has. How old do you think it is ???

If you can spare a minute (you can) I tip you to visit the European Tree of the Year website. Trees like these make your day. Every day. Enjoy, and do support nature 👍.

I made a walk just next to the town where big cactusplants are growing. And there a (1) orange cactusflower attracted my attention. Large parts of this land are not used (by humans that is ...) so they have lots of space there. How old will a three meter high cactusplant be ?

Since all is fenced here (and everywhere ...) I could not get closer. But ofcourse my Panasonic FZ1000 camera 🖱️ could.

I slept very well here every night but I am not a long sleeper. And waking up around 06h30 or 07h00 brought me many beautiful sunrises.

These are the animals I met here.

You can make nice mountainbike trips here. Whenever I see landscapes like these I still miss my MudRacer 3.0 mountainbike that I had to leave behind when I started YesTrip.

The beautiful landscape, the more to the north the more trees are showing up.
